Originally from Durban, South Africa, Grant holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Virginia Tech. Upon graduation in 1989, Grant returned to his native South Africa to join Topmark Gardeners, a landscape design, maintenance, and irrigation firm in the coastal province of Natal. While in South Africa, Grant was involved in large dune and coastal rehabilitation as well as several residential and hotel/resort projects, including the award-winning Santorini resort in Umhlali.
In 1991, he traveled to Rochester, NY to become Vice President Oakleaf Landscape & Design. While at Oakleaf, he furthered his landscape design and arboricultural skills, and he was able to take part in the historic renovation of the George Eastman House.
Grant moved to Sarasota in 1997. There, he helped build the maintenance division of Hazeltine Nurseries before starting his own business in 2000. With the help of his business partners, Grant’s Gardens, Inc. has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise.
Committed to protecting clean water, Grant is also a Managing Partner at Ceres H2O Global Technologies, a company that offers innovative solutions for sustainably treating stormwater runoff pollution.

Born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia, John has been in the landscape design business, in one form or another, all his life. As a child, he helped his grandparents with their garden; as a teen, he mowed lawns in the summer to earn extra cash; and, as a young man, he worked in golf courses.
In 2004, he relocated to Sarasota to take a position as Golf Course Superintendent at The Oaks Club. After 15 years in golf course management and course construction, John left to start Siesta Key Landscape. His business philosophy was simple...
Be better than the competition, work harder, and provide Siesta Key and the surrounding communities with great landscape!
In the short time that he has been in the Sarasota area, John has been fortunate to meet many great people and work on some of the most beautiful properties in the area. When he’s not working, he spends his time fishing, golfing, or on the boat with his Chocolate Lab, Bailey.
